Frequently Asked Questions

Everything families need to know about finding activities and claiming coupons — and everything business owners need to know about getting listed and offering deals.

Pocket the Savings. Keep the Memories.

For everyone

1What is Tov Pocket?For everyone

Tov Pocket helps Jewish families find fun things to do, kosher restaurants, and Jewish-owned shops near them — with special coupons you can't get anywhere else.

Everything is in one place, so you spend less time searching and more time enjoying your family.

Pocket the Savings. Keep the Memories.

2Where does Tov Pocket work? For everyone

Across the United States and Canada.

Type in a ZIP code, a Canadian postal code, a city and state, or just a two-letter state like NJ, and we show you what's nearby.

3Is Tov Pocket only for Chol Hamoed? For everyone

No — we're here all year.

Chol Hamoed is a big part of what we do, but you'll also find ideas and deals for:

  • Chol Hamoed Pesach and Sukkos
  • Chanukah
  • Yeshiva vacation and summer vacation
  • Shabbos, Yom Tov, and everyday errands

Family fun shouldn't only happen a few days a year.

4Is Tov Pocket just another deal website? For everyone

Not really. Deals are where we start, but memories are what we're about.

We help you find great places to go, good kosher food, and trusted Jewish businesses — and save money while you do it.

5How do I sign in?For everyone

It's easy, whether you're a family or a business owner. You can sign in three ways:

  • With Google
  • With any email address — we email you a short code to type in. You can set a password afterwards so it's one step next time.
  • With your phone number — we call you and read out a code.

You don't need a Gmail account, and there's no long sign-up form.

Business owners sign in the same way, then open My Business to manage their listing.

6Can I install the site as an app on my phone or computer? For everyone

Yes. Open your Account page and use Install the app — it shows the right steps for the device and browser you are using.

  • iPhone and iPad: in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: in Chrome, open the ⋮ menu and choose Install app (or Add to Home screen).
  • Windows and Mac (Chrome or Edge): click the install icon at the right of the address bar.
  • Mac (Safari): choose File → Add to Dock.

The installed app opens in its own window and always shows the latest version of the site. Firefox on a desktop computer cannot install sites as apps.

7I know the name of a place but it is far from me — will search find it?For everyone

Yes. Type the name into What on any directory page, or into the 🔍 Search in the top bar, and we look everywhere — a name is never dropped for being far away. The nearest matches come first, each with its distance.

If you also typed a place into Where, we look there first. When nothing matches inside that radius we show the matches from elsewhere and say so above the list, so you can tell the difference.

The top-bar search looks across Family Outings, Kosher Restaurants and Tov Shopping at once; press / on a keyboard to open it from anywhere. You can search by name, by what a place is ("pizza", "museum", "sheitels") or by a word from its description.

8Why am I getting emails from Tov Pocket, and how do I stop them? For everyone

It depends on how you use Tov Pocket.

If you use Tov Pocket as a family: we email you when you claim a coupon, when you write to Support, and about sweepstakes entries.

If you own a business that's listed on the site: you may also hear from us about your listing and about being featured.

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it stops our mailings right away, and it doesn't affect any coupon you've already claimed. If you change your mind later, just contact Support.

9How can I contact Tov Pocket?For everyone

We're happy to help.

Have a question, need help with your account, or want to add your business? Visit our Support page and our team will get back to you.

10What is our promise?For everyone

Tov Pocket is more than coupons.

We're building a trusted community where families find new experiences, support local businesses, and make memories — while keeping a little extra money in their pocket.

Pocket the Savings. Keep the Memories.

For families

1Is Tov Pocket free for families? For families

Yes. Tov Pocket is completely free for families. There is no membership fee and no catch.

Claiming a coupon is free, and entering our sweepstakes is free too.

Own a business? See How much does it cost to list my business? below.

2How do I find things to do near me?For families

Go to the home page, type where you are (or let the site find you), and pick how far you're willing to drive.

The site has three sections:

  • Family Outings — museums, zoos, water parks, theme parks, and more
  • Kosher Restaurants — places to eat
  • Tov Shopping — Judaica, seforim, groceries, sheitels, and other Jewish businesses

Tap any place to see its hours, prices, a map, and any coupon it offers.

3Can I search for a type of place, like a water park or a sheitel macher? For families

Yes. Just type what you're looking for — "water park", "zoo", "pizza", "sheitels", "seforim", "gemach" — and we'll show you the matching places near you.

You can also type the name of a place if you already know it.

4I typed my city and the site asked me "Which one?" Why?For families

Some city names are in more than one state. There's a Springfield in many states, for example.

When that happens, we ask you to pick the right one, so you only see places near your town and not a mix of towns hundreds of miles apart. Just tap your state and you're done.

5How do I find a kosher restaurant that is meat, dairy, or pareve? For families

On Kosher Restaurants, use the Meat, Dairy, and Pareve buttons at the top.

You can also filter by type of food, and by Cholov Yisroel, Pas Yisroel, and Glatt. Each restaurant also shows which kosher agency certifies it.

As always, check with the restaurant or the agency if you have a question about its kashrus.

6Can I see which kosher agencies certify restaurants? For families

Yes. The Kosher Agencies page lists the agencies (hashgachos), and each restaurant's page shows the agency that certifies it.

7What are the collections on the home page, like "Everything Shabbos"?For families

They're hand-picked groups of places that go together — for example, everything you might need for Shabbos or for Yom Tov.

Tap one of the buttons under the three big cards on the home page to see the whole collection. It's a quick way to find ideas for a season or an occasion.

8Can I share a place with my family or friends? For families

Yes. Every listing has a Share button. You can send it by link, by text, or by email — great for planning a trip with another family.

9Do you check the places you list? For families

Yes. Our team looks over listings before they go up, and we keep checking that places are still open and their information is right.

If we haven't checked a place for modesty standards yet, its page says so, so you can decide for yourself.

See something wrong? Let us know through Support and we'll fix it.

10Can I write a review of a place?For families

Not yet — reviews are a future feature that is not available right now.

We're working on a way for families to share what they thought of a place. Until then, if you have feedback about a listing, please send it to us through Support.

11Why should I sign in?For families

Signing in unlocks the extras:

  • Claim coupons and keep them all in one place (My Coupons on your account page)
  • Have a coupon emailed or texted to you so it's on your phone when you need it
  • Earn free entries in our sweepstakes
  • Send us a message and see our replies

We respect your privacy and never sell or share your email address.

12I don't have a smartphone. Can I still use Tov Pocket?For families

Absolutely. Sign in with your phone number and we'll call you with your code.

You can also print any coupon and bring the paper with you.

13How do I get a coupon?For families

Find a place you like and tap Claim Coupon. That's it.

Your coupon gets its own code and a QR code. You can show it on your phone, print it, have it emailed to you, or have it texted to you.

14How do I use my coupon?For families

Just show it at the place — on your phone or on paper.

The staff scan the QR code (or type in the code) and confirm it right there. That's the whole process.

15Can I use a coupon more than once?For families

No. Each coupon works one time. Once it's been used, the same code will show as already used.

Going with a few families? Make sure each family claims its own coupon.

16Can I get my coupon by text message? For families

Yes. Add your phone number on your account page, then tap Text the Coupon to Me on any coupon.

We only text you the coupons you ask for — never ads.

17Where can I find the coupons I've claimed?For families

Sign in and open your account page. Every coupon you've claimed is under My Coupons, so you never have to dig through your email.

18How often are new deals added? For families

All the time. We're always adding new places, restaurants, shops, and coupons — especially before the holidays.

Check back often. Your next great deal might be waiting.

19What is the Tov Pocket sweepstakes? For families

It's our way of saying thank you. While a sweepstakes is running, you earn free entries for a chance to win a prize just by using the site — for example:

  • Visiting the site (and coming back several days in a row)
  • Using a coupon at a place
  • Claiming a coupon at a place you've never been to before
  • Sharing a place with someone
  • Inviting a friend who signs up

See the Sweepstakes page for the current prize and the official rules.

20Why can't I see the sweepstakes, or why am I not earning entries? For families

Our sweepstakes are open only to residents of the U.S. states each promotion's official rules list as eligible, and are void where prohibited. Some states are always excluded (for example Alabama, Hawaii and Utah), and a promotion may exclude others.

We tell where you are from your internet connection. If it places you outside the U.S. or in an excluded state, the sweepstakes banner is hidden and no entries are earned. A VPN or a mobile network can sometimes show a location other than where you are.

The official rules on each Sweepstakes page list the excluded states. Staff, sales and business accounts can never enter.

21Do I have to buy anything to enter the sweepstakes? For families

No. Every way to enter is free. No purchase is ever necessary.

22How do I know my sweepstakes entries counted? For families

Open the sweepstakes page while you're signed in. Under each way to enter, it shows "You've earned N", and the number updates right away — no need to reload the page.

For businesses

1How do I get notifications on my phone or computer? For businesses

Business accounts can be notified when their sales rep replies, or when an ad, coupon or promotion is approved or needs changes. Open your Account page and tap Enable notifications on this device, then choose what you want to hear about. Do this on each device you use.

  • iPhone and iPad: notifications only work from the installed app. Install it first (Share → Add to Home Screen), open it from your Home Screen, sign in, and turn notifications on there.
  • Blocked by mistake? The Account page shows how to allow notifications again in your browser.

You can remove a device or turn a kind of notification off at any time from the same page.

2I own a business. Why should I be on Tov Pocket? For businesses

Because families on Tov Pocket are already looking for somewhere to go, somewhere to eat, or something to buy — near them, right now.

  • Get found. Your business shows up when families search your area and your kind of business.
  • Bring in new customers. A coupon gives families a reason to choose you over the place down the street.
  • Busy seasons and quiet ones. We're used all year, with big rushes around Chol Hamoed, Chanukah, and vacations.
  • See the results. Your own page shows how many people found you and how many coupons were used.

Basic listings are free, so there's nothing to lose by joining.

3How much does it cost to list my business? For businesses

A basic (Standard) listing is free.

If you want to stand out more, you can choose a paid plan, run a coupon, place an ad, or join a featured collection. The Plans & Pricing page shows every option and price. You only pay for what you choose.

4My business is already on Tov Pocket. How do I take it over? For businesses

Find your business on the site and tap Is this your business? Fill in your name, email, and phone number.

We'll confirm your email address, check your request, and then give you access to My Business — your own page for managing your listing. You don't need an account to start.

5My business isn't on Tov Pocket yet. How do I get added? For businesses

Fill out the short form on our For Businesses page. Someone from our team will get in touch to set you up.

6What is "My Business"?For businesses

It's your own page for running your listing. Sign in and tap My Business at the top of the site.

It opens with simple choices of what you want to do:

  • See your page — see what families see
  • Check a coupon — when a customer shows you one
  • Get more customers — ask for a coupon, a better plan, an ad, or a spot in a featured collection
  • Pay a bill — see what you owe and what you've paid
  • See how you are doing — how many people found you
  • Message us — ask us anything
  • Change your settings — your coupon PIN and social media links

Reading your reviews will be added there too — reviews are a future feature that is not available yet.

7What is the Verification card on My Business? For businesses

It shows what our own checks hold about your listing. You'll find it on the first page of My Business.

  • For a restaurant: the kosher supervising agency, and whether you are Meat, Dairy or Pareve, Glatt, Cholov Yisroel or Pas Yisroel
  • For every listing: whether your website could be read, whether your links passed our safety check, when we last confirmed you are open, and when each detail was last checked

We check listings regularly so families can trust what they see. A blank kosher detail means your website didn't say — we never guess.

The card is read-only. If something on it is wrong, message us and a person will correct it.

8How do I offer a coupon to families?For businesses

Open My Business, tap Get more customers, and ask for a coupon. Tell us the deal — for example "$10 off" or "Buy 2, get 1 free" — and the dates you want it to run.

Our team looks it over and puts it live. Coupons are priced by the number of days they run (longer runs cost less per day), and every listing gets a short free coupon run each quarter. The Plans & Pricing page has the details.

9Why do you need my email before I can upgrade or advertise? For businesses

Every paid plan, coupon campaign, ad or category placement comes with an invoice and a payment link, and we send both by email. Without an email address on your listing there is nowhere to send them, so we can't set up anything paid until we have one.

If you claimed your listing, the email you confirmed is used automatically. To change it, message us and pick your listing in the form.

10Why did I get a "Confirm your email" message? For businesses

You asked us to list your business, and we're ready to give you access to manage it. Before we create your sign-in we check that the email address on your request is really yours: click Confirm my email in the message, then press the button on the page it opens. We'll email you how to sign in straight away.

The link works for 14 days. If it has expired, message us and we'll send a new one. If you didn't ask to list a business, ignore the message and nothing will happen.

11How do my staff accept a coupon? For businesses

Your staff go to the coupon check page (linked at the bottom of every page of the site), scan the customer's QR code or type in the code, and enter your business's Vendor ID — a short code we give you. A green check means it's good.

No account or password is needed, so any staff member can do it. The device remembers your Vendor ID, so they only type it once. Each coupon can only be used one time.

12Can I add a PIN so only my staff can accept coupons? For businesses

Yes, if you'd like the extra protection. In My Business, open Settings and set a coupon PIN. Your staff then type the PIN along with your Vendor ID. You can change or remove it any time.

Most businesses don't need one — it's off unless you turn it on.

13What do the Highlighted and Premium plans give me?For businesses

Every listing starts on the free Standard plan. Paid plans help you stand out:

  • Highlighted — you show up higher in searches near you, your card stands out, you can show up to 5 photos, and you get a dashboard of how many people saw you, clicked, and claimed coupons.
  • Premium — you're placed in the top 3 results for searches in your area, with a gold Featured card, a photo slideshow and video, and detailed reports.

Plans are paid monthly and renew on their own. See Plans & Pricing for prices.

14Can I advertise on Tov Pocket?For businesses

Yes. You can run an ad with your own headline, message, and picture, shown to families in the communities you choose — like Brooklyn, the Five Towns, or Toronto — or across a whole region, the whole USA, or all of Canada.

There are two kinds:

  • Featured banner — the first thing families see in their results. Only one per community, so it's first come, first served.
  • In-feed ad — shown between the listings.

Ads are month to month. We send you a preview to approve before anything goes live, and the ad starts as soon as you pay. Prices are on Plans & Pricing, and every community has a page showing exactly which towns it covers.

15What is a "featured collection", and how do I join one?For businesses

Featured collections are groups of places we show together as buttons on our home page — like Everything Shabbos or Everything Yom Tov. Families tap them to find ideas for a season or an occasion, and they cover the whole country, not just your area.

To join, open My Business, tap Get more customers, then Ask to join a featured collection. Pick the one that fits you and add a note if you'd like. Our team will reply with the price and dates before anything starts.

16Can I see how my listing is doing? For businesses

Yes. In My Business, tap See how you are doing. Every listing shows how many people viewed it. Highlighted and Premium plans add more detail, like how many people saw you in search, clicked, and claimed your coupon.

17Can I add my Facebook, Instagram, or other social media links? For businesses

Yes. In My Business, open Settings and add your links.

To keep listings trustworthy, our team checks each new link before it shows on your public page. You'll see Awaiting review next to it until then, and we'll email you when it's approved. If we can't approve one, we'll tell you why.

Removing a link works right away.

18I need help with my listing. How do I reach you?For businesses

Open My Business and tap Message us, or use our Support page. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

19How do I pay for a plan, coupon, or ad?For businesses

Payments are handled safely by Stripe, a well-known payment company. We never see your full card number.

  • Monthly items (plans, ads, and monthly collection spots) are paid by card and renew on their own.
  • One-time items (like a coupon run) are sent as a bill by email that you can pay by card or bank transfer.

When something is waiting for you, a Pay button shows at the top of My Business. You can also see every bill under Bills and payments.

20I clicked a payment link and it says "You're all done here" or that the session timed out. What now?For businesses

That page comes from Stripe, the company that handles our payments. Some of Stripe's links only work for 24 hours, so an older one shows that message. Nothing was charged.

To get a link that works:

  • Use the Pay now to go live button in our most recent payment email. That link doesn't expire.
  • Or sign in, open My Business, and tap Pay at the top of the page. It always makes a fresh link.

Still stuck? Reply to any of our emails or contact Support, and we'll send you a new link.

21My request was approved but I've changed my mind. Do I still have to pay?For businesses

No. Until you pay, nothing is live and nothing is charged.

To call it off, use the Cancel link in the payment email, or open My Business and tap Cancel next to it at the top of the page. You can also just tell us and we'll cancel it for you. Either way, the payment link stops working.

22How do I stop my ad?For businesses

Open My Business and stop it there. Your ad stays up until the end of the month you've already paid for, and then it stops — you won't be charged again.

For anything else you'd like to change or end, just send us a message and we'll take care of it.

23I own a business. How did you get my email address? For businesses

If you didn't give it to us, we found it on your business's own website. That's why our first email says so and asks if you'd like to keep hearing from us — we'd rather ask than assume.

If you'd prefer we didn't email you, use the link in the email or the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any message. If you simply ignore us, we stop after a few emails anyway.

24I own a business and clicked "Yes, keep sending me updates." What did I agree to?For businesses

Occasional emails to your business about listing with us, promotions, and coupon campaigns. Nothing more.

You can change your mind any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, and it takes effect right away. We keep a record of when you said yes, so we can show it was your choice. See our Privacy Policy for details.

25I own a business and don't want these emails. What happens if I just ignore them? For businesses

We stop.

A business address we found on a website gets only a few emails, each one asking for permission. If nobody answers, we remove the address and don't email it again. You don't have to do anything.

If you'd rather not wait, the "No thanks, remove me" link in the email removes you right away.
